About the event

With a fusion of Post Rock, Alt Rock and tangs of Metal and Experimental musical influences, Kubo Kobi began in 2020 writing and jamming in Glasgow, with founder and songwriter David Drummond, being joined by Robin Birrell on bass and Asim Rasool on drums. The worldwide outbreak of the Rona in 2020 held up proceedings, the final two pieces of the jigsaw joining in late 2021, with Anca on vocals and Will Ren on guitar. The now complete line up has begun working on the anticipated summer 2022 release of their debut album.
Kubo Kobi will have you dreaming in your bed, floating on ambient, spacious and effect driven verses before exploding into Deftones motivated choruses, powerful and driven. The influences of bands such as Deftones, Tool, Hammock and Mogwai, can be clearly heard. Kubo Kobi are in no rush to fly through songs, each song being a journey of dynamic dips and climaxes, with themes of political and social issues.

Silverleaf are an indie band who specialise in a type of music called slowcore, which is a melancholic and woeful form of alternative music that focuses on rich harmonies and grooves. our sound is incredibly dynamic, shifting from whispered verses to feedback heavy noise breakouts. Our largest musical influences are Duster, Sonic Youth and Slowdive. We are a young band who recently released our debut ep, and would love to start playing our original music with the occasional cover to live audiences.
Firing at Statues are a trio from Glasgow. With a mixture of different punk rock styles and a fast paced energetic alternative rock sound. The band's full line up came together just before the lockdown in 2020 when Drummer Andy joined Kevin and Dale who previously performed in the pop punk band Century Thirteen. With all 3 members taking influences from many new and old punk rock bands, their love of music was reborn and Firing At Statues was complete.
