There’s a lot to be said about Scottish punk ska band The Hostiles.
Since having formed in 2001 in their hometown of Ayr, Scotland, the band ( Josh Barron –
Vocals, Steve Bruce – Trombone, Kenny Shand – Trombone, Bob McBride – Drums, Nic
Milano - Trumpet) have already toured alongside the likes of REEL BIG FISH, and played
alongside the likes of LESS THAN JAKE, ZEBRAHEAD, MAD CADDIES and more across the
punk spectrum.
Having already taken their ‘upbeat, effervescent, bouncy, and danceable’ (Punktastic) live
show across the UK, their ferocious and infectious ambition has already seen the band build
an almost global audience, having now toured over 22 countries, including Europe, Canada,
Japan and South East Asia.
Having taken sonic influences from the likes of NOFX, KING PRAWN, and CAPDOWN, the
band’s previous records, Always Looking Forward, and Last Call received a huge level of
press and industry appraisal, including DISCOVERED, PUNKTASTIC, VIVA LE ROCK, and THE
SOUNDBOARD.
Building on their ‘infectious, exuberance, coarse riffs’ (Viva La Rock) and ‘irrepressible
energy’ (Power Play) the band entered the studio in 2018 to record their newest release,
Love & Lacerations, which has already seen major press coverage and backing.
A live show that’s intensity and formidable reputation that can be comparable to the likes of
DESCENDENTS and RANCID, with a solid true and integral DIY spirit, The Hostiles are quickly
becoming one of the most important, and revolutionary bands to lead the new wave of ska.
